LISA GODDARD

Lisa Goddard is a mixed media artist and tutor living on the edge of the Peak District national park in the UK. She is passionate about art journaling and bookmaking.

"I started art journaling and journal making around twenty years ago. I had just completed a fine art degree and was feeling a bit lost and directionless when I stumbled across it. Art journaling became a space for me to express myself, process my emotions, experiment, and play. For me, it is now an essential part of my life, a place to create stories and tell my own.

I work predominantly with mixed media. I love the freedom of not being restricted in what I use, and there are always new exciting combinations to discover. I love to combine collage, texture, fabric and paper with splashes of colour on my pages and often use vintage images and found text. I am also inspired by nature and using natural materials to create textures, colours and marks in my work."

MANSI

I’m Mansi (phonetic spelling: Maan-see) and I love experimenting with various media. Ever since I can remember, I have loved to paint. When I applied for art school, I was told by the interview committee that my poetry and essays were more powerful than my illustrations and paintings...they advised me to pursue a career in writing and I took it to heart. Fast forward five years and I had become a column journalist for a leading national daily in India, got a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Iowa and moved to California to become a full-time communications professional with a desk job and a six-figure salary.

For almost 15 years, I was a writer, until I decided to give myself a second chance at art. After a series of creative explorations in alcohol inks, fluid acrylic pouring, gel plate printing, resin, I found myself right where I first began: holding a paintbrush. But this time around, it was to express myself freely in my art journal.

I believe that one doesn’t have to have any professional training to experiment with techniques, explore new media, or just write down one’s innermost thoughts and paint over them. When I journal, there is usually no plan, no choice of colors and no agenda. I use a "grab-what's-within-reach-and-see-what-happens" method and love being able to paint like this for myself...there's no motive and no end goal; just the joy of painting for the sake of the process.

JENNY GRANT

Jenny Grant is a Mixed Media Artist living in Stockholm, Sweden, on a mission to inspire people to be brave, to use their creativity and to do more of what they love. Jenny found her unique creative spark and source within herself after many years of pushing it aside. For Jenny it is all about the process, the doing. To actually get messy and just do. Her process is very unstructured, tactile and yes, quite messy and through that she is able open up the magic of what is unique within her. Jenny would love to share her process and her magic with you. She has seen how her creative process and approach has helped the creativity blossom in herself and in thousands of her students and she is so excited to share it with you to inspire you to expand and grow yours!

EULALIA MEJIA

Hello, I’m Eulalia. I’m a graphic designer, illustrator, artist, teacher and maker of stuff. I live in Colombia, South America, in a little rural town up in the mountains, with my dog, two cats and human boyfriend. I spend my days in my studio illustrating and splashing paint on handmade journals while discussing worldly matters with my cat.

“My dream is to bring a little cheer to daily life by designing playful illustrations for fun-loving people. I truly believe that we are never too old to be amazed by everyday life; surrounding ourselves with beauty is a great way to remind us there can be magic in the world.”

TINA WALKER

Tina Walker is an intuitive creator, playing with new materials, and celebrating raw, organic styles. She often overlaps different mediums, such as pottery, assemblage, and bookmaking, to support her eclectic creative process. Experimenting with textures and vibrant colorations allows her to create meaningful imagery in spontaneous ways. She has been creative her entire life, from painting pottery with her grandmother, to scrapbooking, to mixed media.

Artist collaborations are a true passion of hers and she finds true happiness when she can think up a crazy idea and others join in the mayhem. The sense of community, diversity, and ‘if you can think it, do it’ attitude is at the core of who she is as a person.

You can find her working with other artists, hosting online creative challenges, and teaching online and in-person workshops. In her free time, she has also found enjoyment in designing, sourcing, and funding all types of mixed media products – from washi tape, bookbinding tape, artist rub-on transfers, die cuts, tissue papers, and more.

BEATRIZ HELTON

Beatriz Helton is a mixed media, fiber and textile bookmaking artist. Making books from vintage book pages, music sheets, old photographs, fabrics and other interesting discoveries is her passion. While stitching, drawing or painting on fabric and paper, making books or finding something to add to her work, she thrives on the process as she enters the creative zone leaving her inner critic in the back seat. Her bookmaking is always evolving, no two books are exactly alike. Each page is a different expression of shapes, colors, textures, and impressions from her life. She is always intrigued to find unexpected images presenting themselves in the finished piece and she enjoys when the viewer finds something personal in her work. Beatriz believes an individual’s view of art is as unique as their fingerprint. She loves to encourage her students to create with a sense of play, as she believes having fun while creating is the key to making authentic art. For Beatriz, helping her students overcome the inner critic is essential for them to find their true voice.

BIRGIT KOOPSEN

Birgit is married to Erik and a mom of 3. She lives in a little village called Winsum in the north of the Netherlands.

Birgit started scrapbooking in 2003 but then fell in love with mixed media and art journaling. Her favorite things to do right now are art journaling, mono printing and layered collage art. She loves to get her hands dirty and experiment with paints and inks and all kinds of mediums.

Birgit’s art is mostly bright and colorful, with a lot of layers and details. She loves to combine colours that are very contrasting and works a lot with stamps, stencils, inks, acrylic paints and markers.

Birgit teaches and demonstrates in her own studio at home as well as in craft stores and at (international) mixed media events (pre-Covid) and taught a number of (collaborate) online classes. Teaching brought Birgit all over the world. She had the privilege to teach in the US, Canada, India, Australia and Israel but also closer to home in France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Austria and the UK.

She loves to travel, see new places, meet people and explore different cultures. She considers it a huge bonus that she is able to combine that with her love of teaching and inspiring people to create art.

Since 2014 Birgit has her own product line with Carabelle Studio for whom she designs stamps, stencils and art printing plates. Birgit is a Lead Brand Ambassador for Gelli Arts® and creates monthly video tutorials for the Gelli Arts® You Tube channel and conducts regular live classes for Gelli Arts® and Michaels Stores.

LAURA DAME

Hello, my name is Laura and I am a mixed media artist based in Austin, TX. I love to play around and experiment in my art journals, and also enjoy dabbling in abstract, collage, and floral artworks. My favorite thing about art is that there are no rules - the only requirement is that whatever you create makes you happy! My main goal when I began sharing my art was to show people that you don't have to be classified as an artist to pick up a paintbrush. Your art doesn't have to be perfect, or even 'good' - it's the act of creating that matters.

I am married to a wonderful husband, who is the person who first nudged me down my artistic path about 8 years ago (although he probably didn't realize how much money I would spend on art supplies!). I am also the mother to two teenage boys, and a full-time Sonographer.

MEGHANN EARLY

Meghann Early is a collage and mixed media artist born and raised in New York City. She is passionate about art as ritual and is a big fan of process over end product. Her favorite materials to work with are recycled and she believes that art is a powerful healing modality that everyone should have access to.

KYLIE COO

Kylie Coo is a mixed media artist, art journaler and book artist as well as maker of many things. She finds that nature provides the biggest inspiration for her art whether it’s in the big picture beauty of land and seascapes or in the smaller picture details of the patterns and textures on insects, lichens, moss and rocks. She translates this often in an abstracted way into the many layers and textures she works into her paintings, art journal pages and the artist books she creates. She considers herself to be an intuitive artist – while she might start with a loose plan it often changes as once in flow the intuitive approach takes over. She often incorporates found words into her work. She loves monoprinting with or without a gel plate and is constantly experimenting with her supplies and techniques.

Kylie believes that everyone is creative and that everyone has the means to create with even the most basic supplies and believes in a ‘use what you have’ approach to art. She often demonstrates this in the projects she shares on her YouTube channel where she can be seen using everyday items to create patterns and textures and by upcycling and giving new life to many single use throw-away items.
