Meet the Instructors

Nicole Edgecombe is an intuitive artist from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia where she wears many hats as a mum, wife and Clinical Psychologist. As someone who has lived with chronic physical conditions for the past 4 years she views her art practice as a vehicle for healing.

Through her art she transmutes fear into hope, pain into joy and despair into optimism. As a self-taught artist she revels in what she does not know, enjoying the freedom of discovery and the mystery in mistakes and she shares all that she is learning with students in small group workshops. In those moments where she is not actively engaged in her many roles she can be found singing raucously at the top of her voice or basking in the sun and sea of her beautiful island home.

Jackie Barragan is a Mixed Media artist from Orange, CA. Though she has always been creative, it wasn’t until 2013 that she discovered her love for art and the liberating joy of Art Journaling. Soon she realized that art was part of her life’s purpose. Her passion lies in Mixed Media due to its messy and imperfect nature.

Along the spiritual path of looking inward, Jackie began to experience the healing properties of creating art. She feels that art is a reflection of our souls.

Jackie’s style focuses on the gifts that life’s challenges have given her: Courage, empathy, forgiveness, gratitude, joy, trust, acceptance, hope, and love. With every piece she creates; with every lesson she teaches, she experiences further validation that creative expression is a powerful means to healing the wounds of the past.

As an instructor, her hope is to help others discover their courage… courage to stand in their truth; to be authentic; to follow their heart; to trust their inner voice; and to let go of the past and heal their soul through art.

Tiffany Goff Smith is a lover of all things colorful and textured. She lives on the Gulf Coast of Alabama and found her love of arts and crafts from her mother. As a child she remembers watching her mom tat, knit, make porcelain dolls and anything else you can imagine. It wasn't until 2013-2014 she found art journaling it just clicked the ability to "art" journal my thoughts and feelings felt more natural than writing them. The rest is history she tries to carve out a minimum of 15 mins a day for journaling.

Deanna Jinjoe is mixed media artist living in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. The journey that enabled her to find her artistic self wasn't an easy one but now she wouldn't trade it for the world. A few years ago she was dealing with serious, chronic health issues. Having migraines almost daily and intense back pain that made life very challenging. The doctor’s solution was to prescribe Tylenol 3’s by the hundreds.

Driven by this pain to seek a solution other than her doctor’s Deanna happened to discover the joy of making art. She started playing and dabbling, taking a few online courses and what she quickly realized is that no matter how much physical pain she woke up with, she no longer felt that pain once she sat down at her easel. Now, a few years later, pain is no longer a significant part of her life. It was the release from the pain while playing with art that gave her the hope she could move beyond the pain.

Deanna has heard so many stories about how art has changed the lives of people that she is moved to get that message out to anyone who will listen. Her mission is to help people understand how a creative practice can change their lives and that ANYONE can create. You don’t have to be a Picasso to create work that is meaningful and beautiful to YOU. It is about the process and what the process gives you more so than the finished product.

Cristin Stevenson is a mixed media artist, art journaler, jewelry creator, guitarist and coffee enthusiast.
She currently lives in Saint Joseph, Missouri with her husband, Frank. Since leaving the corporate world in January of 2015 she has been diligently pursuing art full time. She has had artist features locally and a opportunity to expand instructing in online workshops.
Whether it be a commissioned painting, a mixed media piece, a page in her art journal… she is constantly creating.
Art is the way that she expresses herself, capture moments and release and she loves sharing that with other people.
Her aim is to never be content – to never stop learning, and never stop creating.

She is an Atlanta native and currently lives in Virginia with her husband and children.
